Who we are?

The Voices Project was established to give children and young people that are living, studying or working in the East Durham Rural Corridor a voice and make positive changes to the area and to issues that affect them.

In 2013 a small group of young people living in the area approached Investing in Children for help as they felt that there was no mechanism for children and young people in the area to have a voice.

IIC supported the 4 young people to apply for funding through the Area Action Project (AAP) to develop 'The Voices Project'. The four young people ran their own stall at the voting event and drummed up lots of support. Their application was successful receiving the second highest amount of votes so work on the project began.

For the past two years the Voices Project Youth Forum has given children and young people the opportunity to shape services.

Over the year in discussion with more children and young people they have asked for an online forum and interactive website and this is it!
